  • String Family Books -  While students did the following items, they listened to/watched the videos above.  Students who were really on track were selected by the teacher to pick the next video.
        1. Students cut out pages
        2. Arrange pages in this order:
          1. My String Family
          2. Violin
          3. Viola
          4. Cello
          5. String Bass
          6. Guitar
          7. Banjo
          8. Harp
        3. Raise hand.  Teacher will staple pages.
        4. Paper scraps to recycling bin.  Scissors to scissor box.
        5. Select 1 crayon.  Write your name on the cover page.
        6. As a class, turn through the pages of their book.  Color the appropriate instrument on the Violin, Viola, Cello, and Bass pages.

  • Tic Tac Toe - Divide class into 2 teams.  The teacher will ask questions about string instruments or will ask students to name the string instruments.  Students answering correctly will earn a tic tac toe marker on the board.

  • Exit Slip - place pictures of violin, viola, cello, and bass on the floor.  Students name them as they walk by.  Students naming them incorrectly go to the end of the line.  Or display this image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzshsl6W45K9LS1UeXJ2SV9EUDQ/edit?usp=sharing

  • String Family Lesson Plan - Day 2 - I can label string instruments.
    • Students retrieved a clipboard as they entered the music room and sat in their floor circle.
    • Good Morning Greetings
    • String Families
      • Review
      • Label and Color String Instruments - a student assistant gave each student a pencil and a worksheet.  When students had completed their worksheet, they raised their hand.  If they had labeled the instruments correctly, they turned in their pencil and moved to a riser spot where crayon boxes had been placed.  Students colored while the other students continued to label.
